General Information
In the event of a work-related accident or illness, occupational health and safety OH&S) and work health and safety (WHS) laws require that injured workers have access to first aid and return to work rehabilitation.
If You Are Injured At Work

You are entitled to make a claim if you sustain an injury in the course of your employment and are defined by law as a worker.
If you are injured at work, seek first aid and report the injury to your employer.
As soon as possible, visit your doctor to obtain a First Medical Certificate and complete a Workers’ Compensation claim form.
Making A Claim
- Immediately seek first aid and report the injury to your employer
- As soon as possible, see your doctor and ask for a First Medical Certificate
- Fill out a Workers’ Compensation Claim Form
- If you have difficulty completing the form, first speak to your employer – if you are still unsure, contact Workcover WA’s Advice and Assistance Unit or Services
- Make a copy for yourself of the Certificate and Claim Form, and then give both to your employer. Your employer has five working days to lodge the Certificate and Claim Form to their insurer
- The insurer should notify you within 14 days after receiving your claim form
